Smothered French Onion Chicken

A delicious take on French onion soup featuring tender chicken, rich flavors, and creamy cheese.

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 6 slices turkey bacon
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the turkey bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add olive oil and sauté onions until caramelized.
  4. Season chicken breasts with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Sear in the skillet until browned.
  5. Add beef broth to the skillet, place chicken on top, and sprinkle with caramelized onions and crumbled turkey bacon.
  6. Top with Swiss cheese and transfer to the oven.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until chicken is cooked through.
