- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour three round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Add buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
- Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth.
- Fold in the chopped pecans and evenly distribute the batter into the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
