  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the butter and sugar until fluffy. Add the egg, food coloring, and vanilla, then mix well.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  5. In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth, then fold in the whipped cream.
  6. Pour half of the red velvet batter into the prepared pan, spread the cream cheese mixture over it, and top with the remaining batter.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let cool, then cut into bites and serve.

Notes

  • For a more intense red color, adjust the food coloring amount.
  • These bites can be served warm or chilled.
