  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup pistachios, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk and yeast, let it sit until bubbly.
  2. Add flour, sugar, salt, and butter to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until smooth, then let it rise for about an hour.
  4. Roll out the dough and spread a layer of cream cheese mixture, followed by chopped pistachios.
  5. Roll the dough tightly and cut into rolls. Place in a baking dish.
  6. Let the rolls rise again for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Allow to cool, then frost with remaining cream cheese icing.

Notes

  • For additional flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon to the dough mixture.
