Homemade Mini Corndogs

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 10 turkey bacon strips
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the milk and egg.
  3. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
  4. Preheat the oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Cut the turkey bacon strips in half and dip each piece in the batter, then carefully place in the hot oil.
  6. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add cayenne pepper to the batter.
  • Serve with mustard or ketchup for dipping.
