Homemade Jam Donut Focaccia

Delight in this unique take on traditional donuts with a soft, fluffy focaccia base topped with your favorite jam.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup fruit jam (your choice)
  • powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, milk, and melted butter. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Once risen, punch down the dough and spread it into a greased baking dish.
  6. Make small wells in the dough and fill each with jam.
  7. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Let cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar and serving.

Notes

  • You can use any flavor of jam you like to personalize this recipe.
  • For an even richer flavor, consider adding a bit of vanilla extract to the dough.
