Gingerbread Cake Cinnamon Molasses Frosting

A rich and festive Gingerbread Cake topped with a decadent Cinnamon Molasses Frosting.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup molasses
  • 3 large eggs

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add molasses and eggs, mixing well.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Notes

  • Best served warm with frosting.
  • Can be enjoyed plain as well.
